First steak day (for this round!)
Hello fans and adoring public (just kidding!) Actually I hope someone will still be reading since I seem to take long breaks in between when I'm blogging...
Well, you read right, I had to do my first steak day today. I've been on round three now for about a week and a half, and I had pretty much stabilized--so I'm not sure exactly what did it. I think in a way, I've been testing my body to see the limits, to see how much I could eat without going 2 pounds over LIW! So, although I've eaten all completely allowed foods for phase 3 (according to my interpretation of allowed food!) I have to admit I have really been eating a lot. But what I found in my last round 3 was that I really could eat a lot, in fact I needed to eat a lot! As long as they were "legal" foods. In fact, my last round 3, it seemed like I ate so much and never went above the 2 pound limit. Although I did do one "protein day" last time, I never did the outright steak day, the way Dr. S delineated. So that's what I did today.
See, it was months ago, I was at the farmer's market when they were telling me about their organic beef--and they pulled out this HUGE T-bone steak. I bought it and put it in the freezer for just this sort of "emergency." So it's been sitting in their waiting for me for a long time, and I have to tell you, one of my most favorite foods in the world is STEAK. Unfortunately, I rarely buy it these days because it IS so darn expensive--in fact one time when we went to Golden Corral I was exuding enthusiasm about the steak bar, and my 13-year-old son said he didn't even know I liked steak so much! I realized then it's a real treat to me now more than ever because I hardly ever get it!
Anyway, I was feeling bloated from eating a lot of cabbage yesterday, so I decided instead of doing the protein day, where theoretically I could eat some protein for lunch, I would fast all day until dinner time and have my wonderful steak. It wasn't hard at all not to eat all day! I think having the candida more under control and not having msg really keeps the cravings in check!
Anyway, I shared some of the steak with my son, and even then it was almost too big for me! I said almost, because I ate the rest of it anyway! After all, it was all I ate all day, right? I think I was allowed to have a tomato with it, but by the time I finished the steak I was full! And still am (it's now 11 p.m. at night!)
But you know what? It's great to be full of steak....mmmmm.....
Okay, enough of that. The other news is my sister Janelle just started the protocol today! Yay! She had lost a lot of weight more than 20 years ago, and has pretty much kept it off, and even after having two babies she had lost it again. But recently the weight was creeping up, and I think perhaps when you get into your 50s it's harder to keep weight off. So she was watching me and finally decided to take the plunge!
The interesting thing is, she wanted to do the sublingual thing, and wanted me to help her figure out how to mix it. Now I have to tell you, the mixing part was the one reason I wondered if I'd ever be able to do this protocol--and I only got past it because a friend taught me how to mix it and give myself the shots. It definitely was a barrier I had to get across before I could get started. But my sister called me on Monday and said "okay, how do you mix this up now? Because I need to start NOW!"
After flustering and complaining that she didn't give me any warning, I went online to find directions and over the next TWO HOURS walked her through the whole process of mixing! So now, I know how to do it, and am quite proud of myself! I should say that she had already ordered all the of the supplies and hcg and was already doing some of the candida cleansing, so was pretty much ready to start. Anyway, I'm excited because I really think this is the only way to reset the hypothalamus so you won't gain the weight back. Thank God I found this protocol!
Anyway, I'm trying to do this by the book, and according to Dr. S. I need to have an 8 week break before I start phase 2 again. That would put me up to Thanksgiving, so I may actually wait until after Christmas to start again, if I can wait that long! I was reading through Pounds and Inches again, and it said after the next round I would have to wait even longer, which I don't know if I can wait that long in between rounds--has anyone else not waited that much in between rounds? I just don't know that many people who will have done as many rounds as I need to do, so I don't know who to ask. Any ideas?
Anyway, it's late again--thanks for reading! Hope you are doing well! --Merry

Hey Merry....
I have done 8 rounds. I never waited the full time suggested between rounds. I wait 2-3 weeks between each round, and have never had any immunity issues.
I think the biggest thing is to make sure you are mentally ready to go again. That was always the biggest thing for me- being mentally prepared.
Good luck...you are doing great!

Hi Merry,
I love reading your blog. I am on day 17 of Phase 2 and down 10 pounds which is more than I expected. I am going for the 43 day protocol to see how I do and to be honest, I don't know how you all are doing it more than one time. I can't even fathom ordering more HCG and doing this again. Maybe a short round between Thanksgiving and Christmas! Anyhoo, congrats to you. Gloria B in MO
thanks for the long informative post, i really enjoy reading your writings.
